As dawn broke, and the first morning light shone onto the dark pebbles of Spiaggia Fumarola, the whole of Panarea looked like it had been painted a golden bronze. Making the steep descent to the beach un-noticed had been arduous, but this exquisite sight made it all worth it. For a moment she almost believed she was the only person on the whole island seeing the sun’s majestic rise.
